Although a host of West African nations have endorsed the the initiative, Nigeria’s Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo said that Nigeria would not sign the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Economic Community of West African States in a hurry.
Here are the reasons he gave.
He said the Federal Government was consulting the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and some other key economic players on the agreement.
He also said that there is the need to be careful as this agreement could hinder some of the local manufacturer’s trading activities and the federal government does not want that to happen.
He equally said that Nigeria would not sign the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Economic Community of West African States until the country ends its ongoing consultations on the agreement.
